YoYo

Hey guys. So this week has been pretty good. I got to hang with lex. Then I went Rachel house and I got to watch Pride and Prejudice with Logan and Rachel for the first time. Then I went to go see Abduction, which stinks dont go see it. Me and Rachel laughed our heads off at the dumb cheezy parts of the movie. Then I went home and watched Alfred Hitchcock s The Birds. Which is a pretty good show, but its pretty funny to see how bad the special effects were. Then I went to Scott Farwell and saw Cameron and Sarah there which was good. Its crazy that Scotts going then Chris and Lex then me. And Tomorrow for Halloween ill watch Psycho. oh yeah, old school thriller. Anyways my dad asked me a question that made me think and I want to know what you guys think. He said that if I died tomorrow and you guys came to my house and were talking about the good old times what would my friends remember about me. What kind of person I was and one of the memorable memories u had of me. And I really wanted to know what you guys would talk about. So You should let me know. And I hope you guys start posting more on here. But until then Stay classy. ;)

Drained

This weekend was great. I partied like a rockstar. I hit up two mission farewells, stayed up late watching movies and playing games, I have eatne food that was delicious but not really best for me and I have laughed pretty flipping hard. Sadly now I find my self in the post socialization slump. I have been on the verge of tears basically since like 11 this morning. I have had to say goodbye to two missionaries and like ten friends today. I don't like saying goodbye. It is like reality came and shook me and was like "Hey remember how cool these people are? Aren't they so cool? Aren't you having such a good time that you just want to drop out of school and party all the time? Okay well that was enough see you in two years (or in like a month in some cases). I just can't help but feel so drained. I hate saying goodbye to people. Not only am I bummed about people taking off, I am super offended at even the idea of returning to the normal drag of school. At least I have winter semester off. Everything that has happened to me this week has proved to me a few things 1- God wants me to graduate college 2- He also would like me to not kill and or maim myself in the process 3- both 1 and 2 applied to highschool. Well I should cut the dramatic stuff and get to the goods.
Well I shall start on Friday. I baked some cinnomin rolls in anticipation of the Provo Posse's return to the 'Burg. As a side note the Provo Posse shall hence forth be known as Soren, Baden, Jared, Andy, Trevin, Jake, Cassi and any secondary accompaniments. Anyway I made the cinnomin rolls and let them proof so they would get nice and puffy. Last time I made cinnomin rolls for our ISAT breakfast I didn't let the rolls proof long enough, thus the hockey puck resemblance.I tried to visit Mama D but I don't think she was home. I helped my Jessica (not Jessie) pack up some boxes since she has to move. I went to class, read to the blind, baked the cinnomin rolls and went and hung out and played games with the Provo Posse and Alyssa and Stephanie. Good stuff. That is why I was unable to hang out with Rachel and Cole this weekend. I feel sort of dirt baggy for that but the Provo Posse got to me first. On Saturday I watched Kirk, Jake, Andy, Jared, Jentry, Trevin, Mitch, and Chris play basketball. That was a lot more interesting than it probably sounds. It was a great observation of social interactions in strictly male settings. I feel fairly comfortable saying "strictly male" because I was basically ignored except for when they offered to let me play. I noticed the following things. Now note that these things may only apply to this group specifically but I think it would be interesting to observe enough to draw reasonable conclusions about sporting sociality in males. Cole and Cameron will probably either be humored or offened by this. 1- Guys that are normally not touchy can get a lot more friendly during sports. There was more butt touching and strange strangle holds and man hugs than I was suspecting. 2- They kept score even when it was more effort than it was worth. 3- There is not really a universal posture for shooting a hoop. This one is not as easy to explain in an interesting way. It was interesting to me though.
I could continue on that but I won't. I gave Andy the hat I made him. He liked it. Go team Sarah! Crocheted goods strike again. I eventually went up to Soren's house and his mom made us dinner. Soren's mom is basically one of the coolest people to walk the planet. It was like Mexican type stuff with tortillas and rice. We played this interesting game that I might have to teach you guys sometime. It is called 10 down. We also watched the Prestige. Mind blown!
That brings us today. So first I went to Chris's farewell. I am so proud of Chris (and Scott but I will ge to that the in moment). He gave a super good talk and he just looked like a missionary. He is going to go and conquer Norwegia! Afterwards we went to his house for the after party. The shade of blue on Chris's living room wall is very nice and serene. There was this potato stuff that was super good.I got to chat it up with some people. I gave Chris a hug good bye. Hopefully we can have Uno League a few times before he heads out. I also gave Trevin and Andy a hug goodbye. That was kind of rough.
I sadly missed Scott's talk but I caught the tale end of sacrament meeting. I feel like a pile of crap for that. I got to see Scotty, Cole, Cameron and Alec. That was nice. Oh I also saw Ben. It was good to see everybody. I amm proud of Scotty too. He seemed pretty mellow today. Hopefully I can see him again before he leaves. I hadn't seen him since like August and that isn't acceptable.
Well I came home and slept afterwards. That is my weekend basically. Pretty crazy stuff. I hope to hear from all of you soon.I miss everyone more than I normally do. Basically I am miserable missing people right now but heaven knows I will get enough work to do to take care of that.
Much Love,
Sarah

Long Time, No Flog.

Hello people of the 'burg. So I feel really terrible about not being as good about posting as I should have been. I mean, this was my idea right? Oh man, I'm a slacker at the whole "friendship" thing. So life has been crazy since I wrote last. If I'm being honest here, I didn't post for quite awhile because life seemed uneventful and I was sad. Yes, that's right I was sad. There was a time when I didn't have a job, and school hadn't started and so I was home all day everyday watching way too many shows on hulu and reading. My roommates were at school and so I didn't have much to do. Now I am still jobless, but I am a busy bee. I started school and it is C-R-A-Z-Y. Homework-wise, I mean. I like my classes. My teachers grade pretty harshly and they don't go easy on us. For anyone who thinks that going to fashion school sounds fun and easy, you are dead, dead wrong. It is fun sometimes, but I still write papers, take tests, do powerpoints, etc. My school is fully accredited like any other university so I take generals and whatnot. Unlike other universities though, we are on a quarter system and not semester system so I have to cover then smae amount of material in a shorter amount of time. I like the pressure and I am a lot better at not procrastinating than I was in hgh school. I have a teacher named Rosemary that reminds me a lot of Sarah. I spent 15 hours volunteering backstage at a ashion show this weekend and that was crazy. The event was basically a big party and it was my first situation that I've ever been in where the people I was with were drinking (at a couple family functions my mom's relatives would have a beer or something but they didn't like to drink in front of us). They weren't carding anyone at this booth and so the girls from my school that I was with were drinking champange. It looked like sparkling cider, and it would have been so easy to try it. I got out of there before temptation could get the best of me. Living in the mission field is good because you can see how strong you really are. Everyone says "I would never____" and you really think so, but if you are in the situation and your friends are all doing it then it is too easy to give in. Satan knows when to target you. I was really glad I didn't give in. I worked dressing models backstage. It was fast-paced and I'm not sure if I'll do it again, but I'm glad I can add it my resume. I started Institute and my teacher Brother Raleigh is really knowledgeable. I learn so much every week and Wednesday has become my favorite day because of it. We are studying the old testament and the spirit is strong every week. We also get fed dinner and ice-cream before class and I love that. We also get fed lunch on Friday at the SDSU institute and it is always really good. The couple missionaries make the food and they are really funny grandparent-type people. One couple, Elder and Sister Brown are from Rexburg. Small world. Elder Brown actually worked in the same building as my Dad before he retired and every time he sees me he says "Say hi to Doug for me. He's a good man. I don't know how he got such a tall daughter." He is funny and forgetful. He also rambles like nobody's business. I take a bus the the trolley (a cross between a train and the subway) to school. It would be 10 minutes by car, but it take me about an hour to get to school. I usually read, do homework, and think. I see a lot of crazy people. We go through the ghetto and really homeless-y areas. Seeing all that poverty everyday humbles me and I don't ever feel down on being a poor college student. I miss you guys and Rexburg like crazy. Come visit me or something. Ha I wish. Here is a song I currently am obsessed with. I love this guy Ben Rector. Check him out. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dFKz9iVHxeI

College and Crochet

First of all no offense taken Cole. I think that class might only be required for journalism and broadcasting students. All of the people from that emphasis I have met are a little... well different. I haven't declared my emphasis yet though. I am started to not want to go into broadcasting. A lot of their course work is video editing and I have very little interest in that. I am still interested in radio production but I am not sure which emphasis that would fall under. As a side note public relations is sounding pretty sweet. On the other hand all the cool kids I have encountered from Communications are advertising people. I am glad I have a while to mull that over.
Well my life has been pretty zesty. I gave a speech on crocheting on Monday. It was rough. I know so much about it that condensing it down to a five minute speech to people who don't know anything about crocheting (let alone know the difference between crochet and knit) was hard for me to do. I still don't know what score I got. Point of interest though, For my first speech I had to give a speech about an experience that I had. I chose the time we all got chased by a tractor. Classic. My class loved it. My public speaking class is probably one of the most interesting classes I have right now. Also my American Foundations teacher, I have decided, is basically the college Mrs. Ashton. Whoa.
In other news, I have become a bridesmaid. My friend Jessica is getting married December 17th to her fiancé Matt. I guess December will be a busy month. However drum roll please..... She is getting married in the temple! Yay! This makes me feel a lot better about life. I am proud of her getting to the temple. Hopefully she realizes the gravity of the covenants she is going to be making.
As for temple trips, Way to go Cole! I think Chris went through the temple the day before you did (he told us he was going on Tuesday at Uno League). It is so nice to see all these guys (especially you Cole) getting ready to go out and join God's Army. As for that if anyone hears anything about Scotty's farewell I think that might be some nice information to be made known to the group.
Well I have been crocheting lately. I suppose that isn’t much surprise. I have had sort of backlog from the summer, which is unfortunate. I finished the Thor’s hammer that I started way back in July. I think I will give it away for Christmas. That is mostly what I have been thinking about thus far for crocheting. I have one more big project for Christmas but I don’t know how long that will take me. I am still trying to figure out what to give you guys for Christmas. I don’t think I will have the time to make anything to huge and spectacular. I think I might end up crocheting smaller presents for actual Christmas and then see if I can do better while off track. I make no promises though. Word to the wise though, if you ever learn how to crochet, don’t tell people. I am supposed to teach two people how to crochet, then I have a bunch of people begging me for things and then I have what I actually desire to make. Tricky stuff my friends. I am not complaining though. On the campus online bulletin board somebody is hiring crocheters. It struck me as strange but apparently they need a bunch of crocheted hats. I would totally do it but alas, I have school. If it was when I am off track then it would be no problem.
Socializing on campus is sort of undesirable though. I have mostly stuck with the people that I know from high school. I know that at least one of you (probably Moriah or Logan) encourage me to branch out and that sort of thing but it is a different ball game. I don’t really feel like people have a desire to get to know me. I am not really to bent out of shape about it though. I went to college it get an education not to find a new posse. My life is good though. I looked through the photos on my phone the other night and I couldn’t help but smile. My life is pretty darn good. Well I guess I will end with this. I miss all you guys. We need to get together (all the people still in the Burg). I hope you are all happy and living the dream.
